YOUTH & TEEN (4-18 yrs)
EDUCATION & LEADERSHIP
This program is designed not only to teach the game of chess but will also teach respect and how to play with honesty. All levels of players are welcome!
Do you like hands-on projects that you can take home? In this class we will make fun and usable crafts that will impress your whole family! Paint a pot, bedazzle, collage, and more! With a variety of different materials we will learn the art of crafting!
KIDS IN THE KITCHEN
Do you want to become a MASTER CHEF? Learn the way of the culinary craft while practicing kitchen safety and skills. We will cook our way around the world, try new things, and discover a new found passion for food!
Take chances, make mistakes, and get messy! Learn how to observe and test the world around us through hands on experiments and activities sure to blow your mind!
Caught the doodle bug?! Have a a blast learning basic art styles and techniques. Use your imagination to create a super hero , make a comic book, and learn to draw animals. Get creative with this new specialized class!
YOUTH & GOVERNMENT
We offer opportunities for teens to get involved in their communities and learn how to make their voices heard about issues that are important to them. Teens gain an understanding of our democratic system by participating in a mock Senate. They will gain confidence and social skills through challenging debates, bill writing, and campaigning in this incredible program.
Experience the joy of dance while fostering natural creativity and building an excellent foundation for formal training. We will teach the fundamentals of shape, line, form, and rhythm. Dancers will gain body awareness, strength, balance, coordination, and self-esteem.
Does your child love to dance? In this class they will be introduced to all forms of dance, from salsa, jazz, contemporary and beyond. Your little dancer will be learning footwork and style, as well as partner work. Creative and rhythmic movement are the foundations of this new class at the Y!
Hit the hills and sprint the flat roads to your favorite music in this cycling class for youth ages 10-14.
Our focus is on allowing your children to develop their spirit, mind, and body through our encouraging, non-intimidating, and family friendly environment. Our instructors are among the best in their respective martial art and will ensure that your child learns the value of hard work, discipline, honor, integrity, and respect for themselves and others.
DANZAN RYU JUJUTSU
Develop fluid, effective, and powerful techniques through proper body dynamics, breathing, and relaxation. In this class learn how to do escapes, locks, throwing, grappling, constriction, and self-defense.
TAE KWON DO
Based on the premise of peace through strength of mind, body, and spirit. Students do exercises which develop strength, flexibility, endurance, speed, balance, memory, concentration, coordination, and self-control.
YOUTH CLIMBING CLASS
This class covers the basic ideas of indoor and outdoor climbing. Increase strength, endurance, and confidence. Climbing provides a fun, full-body workout that combines precision, grace, and strength.
YOUTH STRENGTH TRAINING
Youth ages 10-13 are required to take this course as a prerequisite to using the well-being center. They will meet with a trained fitness staff member who will show them how to safely use the equipment and also will be taught and tested on proper etiquette while in the well-being center. Once the course is complete, youth will be issued a bracelet that MUST be worn in the well-being center. Parents or guardians MUST be present with youth ages 10-13 at all times.
