By stressing teamwork and the Y’s core values, our sports leagues help teach youth how to be both good sports and good citizens. At the Y, what happens off the field is just as important as what happens on the field.
Our emphasis on teaching and personal improvement fosters an ideal environment for Youth Sports participants to learn and develop their athletic skills.
We recruit parents, community members, and adult athletes who are committed to providing a positive experience for everyone. Each of our Youth Sports coaches goes through a Coaches Orientation and commits to modeling the Y’s core values.
We offer the following sports throughout the year (not all sports available every season)
Baseball/Tee Ball (Pre K-5th Grade)
Spring and Summer
In Y baseball and T-ball leagues players are introduced to the basics of hitting, throwing and catching the ball. Our volunteer coaches make sure to provide a fun, supportive team atmosphere both during practice and on game day so that kids develop mutual respect for their teammates as they learn to love our national pastime.
Basketball (Pre-12th Grade)
Late Fall and Winter
The Y offers basketball leagues for kids of all ages. Kids have fun learning the fundamentals including shooting, passing, footwork, defense, rebounding and ball handling. Players and coaches work together to refine skills, learn team-building and a sense of fair play. Leagues run twice a year with age-appropriate equipment and lowered hoops for younger groups.
Cross Country (K-8th Grade)
Y Cross-Country is a program for kids who enjoy running and want to improve their abilities. The program is designed for kids between the ages of 6 and 13. Kids can use the meets to get in shape for other races or sports like soccer and basketball, or they can participate just for fun! Running drills and an emphasis on flexibility will help all the young runners improve their running technique and coordination for all sports.
Flag Football (Pre-5th Grade)
Y flag football leagues allow boys and girls to work on running, catching, throwing and agility while having fun learning the game. Since our leagues focus on team building and recreational exercise, all kids are given the opportunity to equally participate, regardless of skill level. Y flag football is a non-contact sport.
Lacrosse (2nd - 8th Grade)
Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the country. Our Lacrosse league teaches the fundamentals of this fun and fast-paced game. Y Lacrosse program is great for first timers; our coaches will meet every athlete where they are and coach them up from there.
Soccer (Pre K-5th Grade)
Spring, Summer and Fall
Co-ed youth soccer at the Y features age-specific levels and play. Our soccer leagues are designed for kids to have fun while learning soccer skills and rules as well as sportsmanship, healthy habits, and self-esteem. There are no tryouts and every child plays at least half of every game.
Track (K-8th Grade)
Grab your shoes and run! This league is designed to teach the basics of correct running, jumping and throwing techniques in a team environment. No requirements other than good running shoes, athletic shorts and energy!
Volleyball (2nd-8th Grade)
Late Fall and Winter
With Y volleyball kids learn basic fundamentals while teens improve their skills. Y volleyball leagues enable players of all ages to work on passing, serving, hitting and digging while increasing their volleyball IQ. In the process, players learn good sportsmanship, teamwork and goal setting.
