“Biggest Winner” Challenge!
The biggest challenge of 2009! January 12 - April 4, 2009
Want support and encouragement to help make your New Year’s fitness resolution a success? Join the “Biggest Winner” Challenge!
Weigh-in on Saturday, January 9, at the Olympia Downtown YMCA. Start the Biggest Winner Challenge on January 12! You will be assigned a team and fitness leader. Participate in fun weekly challenges and activities at both branches through April 4!
Cost: Full Members $ 65 Basic Members $150 (Cost covers the entire 3-month program)
Includes: Body composition test, body measurement, weigh-in with Weight Watchers® (if currently enrolled or want to join their program) or a YMCA Staff Nutritionist, Weight Watchers meetings will be held at the downtown branch (added expense), fitness orientation, weekly check-in, ongoing team support, and fun! The annual YMCA Earth Service Corps' Winter Feast will take place on Friday, January 30, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Parent's Night Out
Do you wish you could have a special evening all to yourself? Well now you can! On Friday, January 16, at the Olympia Downtown Branch your child(ren) will enjoy a craft project around the theme of "Serving Others" in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. day that will be taken to a local nursing home, games, swimming, and more.
The fee is reduced by 50% this month. Register at Member Services.
Late Winter Sports
Choose from: Chess (ages 6-14), Indoor Soccer (ages 3-15), Itty-Bitty Basketball (ages 3-5), Itty-Bitty Cheer (ages 3-5), and Roller Hockey (ages 7-18).
Practices begin the week of January 18 through February 28, with games starting on January 31 (except Roller Hockey where games begin on January 25). If you are interested in having your child play one of our late winter sports, please sign up online or at either branch. Registration is still underway.
Coaches are needed. Please contact Beth Daniel at 918-0254, danielb@ssymca.net, to help change the lives of local children.
Volunteer Opportunities
The South Sound YMCA has tons of opportunities for individuals who are interested in volunteering their time and talent. We have listed a couple, but if you are interested in helping and do not see your expertise listed, please contact either branch, and we will get you connected.
- Volunteer Coaches Needed - If you are interested in helping in the life of a child, coaching is a good way to do so. Please contact Beth Daniel for more information at 360-357-6609 or danielb@ssymca.net.
- Youth Fitness Room – This is a great way to earn volunteer hours for high school. Please contact Shilpa Johnson for more information at johnsons@ssymca.net.
