The Campus Child Care Center is operated by the South Sound YMCA and is located on the campus of South Puget Sound Community College. The center provides superior child care services in a rich, developmentally appropriate setting. Our state-licensed center provides care during the day from 6:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and evening care (for children 1 to 8 years) is available until 10:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday (except during the summer.) Many different full and part-time schedule options are available.

For information on enrollment, the waiting list, and to schedule a tour please contact Jaime Card at (360)754-7711 ext. 3223.

We accept DSHS subsidized families and we provide financial aid in the form of scholarships to those with demonstrated need.

What does a typical day look like?
Each day our child care staff provides curriculum and an environment to meet the developmental, cultural, and individual needs of the children in their classroom. The daily routine provides a good balance between self-directed and adult-led activities, active and quiet experiences, indoor and outdoor play, and meal and rest times. Activities and experiences will build self-esteem and self-control, provide for physical development, stimulate intellectual development, build social skills, and enhance creativity.

Child Care Staff Qualifications

Each classroom has a lead tacher who is at least 21 years of age and has at least two years experience working with children. Seventy percent of our lead teachers and director level employees have a degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field. In addition, all child care employees are at least 18 years old and have undergone criminal history and background checks; training in First Aid/CPR, blood born pathogens, safe food handling, child abuse prevention; and monthly trainings in subjects including child development, day care curriculum planning, and communication skills.
