Parent & Child Swimming Classes

Swimming Lessons for Parent and ChildThis 30 minute class is for infants and toddlers ages 6 to 36 months and their parents (required). Activities are based on the developmental abilities of the child. The parent & child program levels are based on developmental stages, so they are broken down by age. The primary objectives are:

  • To promote enjoyable experiences between parent and child in the water.
  • To encourage children to experience, explore, and test the aquatic environment by responding with body movements, with assistance, and encouragement from their parents. Working toward this goal promotes children’s awareness, confidence, and physical abilities.
  • To increase the parent’s abilities to help their children enjoy the water, and to use it as a medium for developing coordination, strength, fitness, and physical abilities.
  • To enhance the parent’s skill in providing the activities and experiences that will lead to the lifelong fitness and health for their children.
  • To increase the parent’s knowledge of water safety and the ability to provide for the safety of their children in and around the water.
