Summer Camp ProgramsWelcome to the 18th season of YMCA summer camp. Licensed child care camps begin June 15th and end September 4th. The YMCA is pleased to offer both overnight and day camp programs in your community this summer. Conveniently located in schools, each day camp varies in theme and is packed with age-appropriate activities, crafts, games, and summer fun to nourish the whole child in spirit, mind, and body! We are proud of our curriculum based on the Y’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Summer adventures start here! Registration InformationRegistration will open on March 16th and will take place at Briggs Community or Olympia Downtown YMCA branches and the Child Care Office. Registration for families assisted by the State will take place at the Child Care Office. Current Child Care participants may also register for summer camp online. *Financial Aid is available through the Child Care Office. Current participants and new applicants must contact the Child Care Office. IMPORTANT: Those who are unable to pay the full amount up front may opt to pay the required deposit ($15/week for day camps, and $100 for Camp Bishop and OPAC) at time of registration. The remaining balance is to be paid in full by the first Wednesday prior to the week of camp. Tumwater Locations (Start June 18th, 2009): Adventure Camp In this theme-oriented camp, kids will enjoy activities centered around such themes as Science Madness and Pirate-ology! Adventure Camp is all about making new friends, trying new things, and creating memories. Other highlights include singing, arts and crafts, team building exercises, and exploring ethnic cuisine.
K-2 Camp (Entering grades 1-2) SPSCC Campus All the great summer camp activities you would typically expect but specifically geared for younger kids. These “Junior Campers” get to share in many of the same exciting fieldtrips and activities as their older counterparts but in an age-appropriate environment. Those who have completed kindergarten through 1st grade have a safe place all to themselves at K-2 Camp!
Olympia Locations (Start June 19th, 2009): All Star Camp If you are enthusiastic about sports and like to get up and move, All Star Camp is the camp for you! With engaging staff and a diverse curriculum rich in interactive games and sport-related activities, this camp promises to keep kids on their toes and having fun!
Arts Alive! (Entering grades 2-8) Roosevelt Elementary Entering its 14th summer, Arts Alive! immerses kids in the arts through music, theatre, dance, creative writing, painting, and more. Camp will culminate with a musical, performed and staged by campers, and a modern art show. The last two weeks of summer will function as a traditional day camp.
Lights! Camera! Action! Lights! Camera! Action! is back by popular demand. Our specialized film camp offers the tools and techniques for your child to direct, produce, write, and act in a series of short films. The 10-week program will culminate with a gala movie premier and the production of a DVD available to all participants. Camp offered weeks 1-10 only.
North Thurston Location (Starts June 22rd, 2009): Camp Fusion Making its debut this summer, Camp Fusion will bring together science, movement, and creative arts in a dynamic recreational program specially designed for the active and curious minds of today’s youth! Get ready for the extreme experience and action-packed fun; register now for Camp Fusion! Camp offered weeks 2-12.
Overnight CampingOlympic Peninsula Adventure Camp (OPAC) Don’t miss out on this awesome week-long camping experience! Campers will explore the shores, hunt for shells and shipwrecks, hike through the rainforest, and swim at Sol Duc Hot Springs! Camp Bishop Resident Camp Come for a week of outdoor excitement and fun at Camp Bishop! Located in the beautiful rural countryside west of Shelton, Camp Bishop has all the outdoor amenities: trails for hiking, a lake for kayaking and swimming, and beautiful Mother Nature! Campers will also enjoy archery, team building exercises, camp fires, and much, much more at Camp Bishop!
Counselor In Training
