Cardio Classes

Cardiovascular (or cardio) exercise has numerous health benefits. In addition to burning calories and lowering your body fat, it will strengthen your heart and lungs. Since heart disease is the leading cause of premature death for both men and women, cardiovascular fitness is very important.

YMCA Cardio Exercise ClassesOther positive results include increased bone mass and muscle tone. To increase muscle strength, though, you need to strength train.

Good examples of cardiovascular activities are walking, running, swimming, biking, aerobic dance, step aerobics, kickboxing, rowing, and jumping rope – you get the idea! There are so many different types of cardiovascular exercise. There is sure to be something that will please everyone.

Cardio Room Orientation

Both the Olympia Downtown and Briggs Community YMCA fitness centers offer a wide range of exercise equipment to meet all of your training needs. To learn the proper use of the equipment, it is highly recommended that you attend an equipment orientation. Scheduled times are available for cardiovascular equipment, strength machines, and free weights. Scheduling is done at individual YMCA branches. Please plan on 30 to 45 minutes for each session, and come dressed to exercise.
